Getting to know me, getting to know you, getting to know God.

Our children's meeting is called Shine.

This is for children from 3 years old to Grade 7. At Shine we try to create an environment that makes church a positive, fun experience – a place that children will definitely want to come back to.

We place a high value on building relationships – child to child, child to adult, and most importantly, with God. In all that we do, we try to be relevant to the children who we're working with, and show them a Father who is very relevant in their lives.

We want to see each child grow in all that God has for them, and become who God has called them to be.

Our Team

Our team is made up of young and not so young men and women who love God and love children.

What happens at Shine

Shine starts with playing games together, followed by worship. We ask that parents please accompany their children to the Shine venue, so that they can be signed in by the parent (up until the end of grade 4), and get their name tag (up until the end of grade 4).

The children play games until we start worship. This is so that we have a chance to get to know each other a little better in a non-threatening environment.

Worship is led by a worship leader and a team, and is a fun time of singing, dancing, praying, ministering, being ministered to, learning and growing. Once a month, on the last weekend of the month, children and families worship together. On those days, children go straight into church with their parents once they have been signed in and collected their name tags from the Shine hall.

After worship, which usually lasts for about 40 minutes, the children go to their classes. During class time different classes do different things, depending on their age and stage. It is a special time to build significant relationships with others of a similar age, and with the adults who teach them. During class time the children are also given opportunity to be prayed for and to pray for others. Ministry often happens during this time.

After the service parents are requested to fetch their children from their classroom.

Three is a very special birthday at The Father’s House, because then your child may join Shine.

The Tweenies class caters for the three and four-year-old children. Because three and four year olds can only concentrate for three or four minutes, the lesson consists of lots of different activities, all exploring the same theme. We cover different Bible stories from the Old and New Testament. The lesson always ends with a time of prayer, where the children lay hands on each other and pray for one another.

Pre-School to Grade 7

Whether it is something that we’ve written ourselves, or something that we’ve sourced, we try to make sure that the material that we use teaches the children about who God is, how much He loves and treasures each child, and what it means to be a child of God. The lessons are very practical, and after practicing in class, children are encouraged to go out and ‘do the stuff’.
